The Malta Community Chest Fund must be renewed and given a legal personality so that it can widen its action, President Marie Louise Coleiro Preca said this morning.

Speaking at an event at San Anton Palace, the president said MCCF is very transparent and accountable in its action.

The president was speaking at the launch of a fund for voluntary organisations to help them widen their action. 

Set up this year, the fund has €900,000 allocated to help voluntary organisations. Such organisations have up till 5pm on 10 April to apply for funds.

Two more meetings will be held at 5pm on Monday at San Anton and at 5pm on Friday at the MCCF office in Victoria, Gozo.
