Speaker Anġlu Farrugia has written to Canadian House of Commons Speaker Andrew Scheer expressing deepest sorrow following the shooting in Ottawa’s Parliament Hill on Wednesday.

Corporal Nathan Cirillo, a standing guard over the War Memorial in Ottawa died in the shooting.

Dr Farrugia conveyed his condolences, on behalf of Maltese MPs, to the Speaker, MPs and family members of the deceased.

He also expressed solidarity in the fight against terrorism, a serious threat against democracy.
