Summer on the Move attracts 3,800 participants

Malta Independent Tuesday, 2 September 2014, 17:48 Last update: about 11 years ago

A total of 3,800 adults and children have participated in this summer’s edition of Summer on the Move, which is organised by the Malta Sports Council (KMS) and which ends this week.

KMS offered the choice of 29 different sport and physical activity programmes tailored for different age groups and which took place in six different locations around the island over eight weeks.

In a visit to the Tal-Qroqq Sports Complex, one of six locations in which Summer on the Move programmes took place, Parliamentary Secretary for Sports Chris Agius announced that this year was only the second time – the other was in 2004 – in which the programme did not run at a loss. Any excess funds, he explained, would be used to improve the level of programmes.

The 2014/15 edition of Skolasport – the winter equivalent of Summer on the Move – will begin in the coming weeks. Applications will be available online on www.sportmalta.org.mt as from Friday.
