Over the Carnival weekend the police have carried a series of arrests of 24 persons in whose possession drugs - from cannabis to cocaine and ecstasy - were found.

With so many people going to Gozo for the Carnival weekend, police set up a number of roadblocks at which five drivers were found to be driving under the influence of alcohol.

In Malta, the Drug Squad, the Rapid Intervention Unit and the Dog Section set up numerous roadblocks in which eight persons were arrested. Seven were found to have in their possession cannabis, cocaine and ecstasy while the eighth person has already been arraigned and charged with aggravated possession of cocaine.
