There are currently 9,935 people who are receiving retirement pensions but registered with the Employment and Training Corporation as still working, according to Social Security Department figures.

Social Solidarity Minister Michael Farrugia gave the information in reply to a parliamentary question by opposition MP Mario Galea.

He added that the Social Security Department does not hold job figures because they are not necessary for working out contributory pensions.
